Duxbury Youth Football Families,

We are pleased to announce that the OCYFL (Duxbury’s football league) is rolling out a Covid-compliant “7 v 7” program that will be classified as a lower Covid-risk sport.  Approximately eight towns have committed to the 7 v 7 season, and a Sunday schedule is being drafted.  We expect the first games to be on Sunday, September 13.  More on that to follow (including times), but please mark your Sunday mornings accordingly.

The 7 v 7 program is a modified non-tackle, non-blocking football program.  This is provided with the intent of providing the unique camaraderie and spirit approaching our traditional football.  We will have trained referees and the competition level will be competitive but collegial.  We expect that everyone will have opportunities to touch the ball and play multiple positions during the season.  The OCYFL is adopting USA Football rules with some modifications, which will be available through your respective head coaches.

Next steps – complying with safety standards and our Covid-19 guidelines (attached), we are going to have our first conditioning session at Train Field on Tuesday, September 1.  Your head coach will contact you with the precise location on Train (all teams will be substantially separated) and report time.  We will have specific protocols upon arrival including hand sanitizing and wearing of masks or gaiters.  Upon arriving at Train, please respect social distancing from other adults and children, especially if you wish to stay at the field for the practice’s duration.  This distancing standard is common to all town sports in Duxbury.

Your responsibilities: Please adhere to the following:

  1. DDF&C will follow the Duxbury School System guidelines for Covid-19. If your child is out of school due to Covid symptoms, then they should not attend practice until they are cleared to return to school.
  2. If your child is exhibiting Covid-like symptoms, please do not come to practice and notify your coach immediately.
  3. If your child is exposed to someone with Covid, you must notify the coach immediately.
  4. Please reinforce with your child the importance of using hand sanitizer, maintaining social distancing and mask wearing while at practice.
  5. Gloves are highly recommended.
  6. Please be prompt during drop off and pickup, to avoid players congregating unnecessarily.

** Please also see a mandatory COVID-19 waiver, needs to be signed and hand-delivered next Tuesday.  Alternatively, you can print, scan and email to me at: .  If you choose to scan, please include your child’s grade in the subject header.  This waiver is a pre-condition to your child’s participation in our program, and is entirely consistent with other Duxbury sports’ waivers.

Duxbury Youth Football is committed to providing your child with an enriching, safe football experience for the fall of 2020.   With your cooperation, we’re confident that Duxbury youth football players will have a memorable fall ’20.

Be on Time, Be a Good Guy
